A Brownsville man remains behind bars under a $1 million dollar bond after being accused of weekend murder.

Brownsville police have charged Israel Lopez for the early Sunday morning murder of Ezequiel Perez.

Investigators said Perez was shot at an apartment complex off Shidler Avenue but died at the hospital.

Police reported that detectives linked Lopez to the crime and arrested him for a parole violation.

Lopez allegedly shot Perez because of an argument.

Authorities charged Lopez with murder on Wednesday morning where he was issued a $1 million dollar bond.

Police also arrested Deborah Joanna Cantu and Benjamin Marfileno on a tampering with evidence charge.

Investigators reported that the two "got rid of evidence" at the scene but declined to give further details.

Both Cantu and Marfileno are in custody under $150,000 dollar bonds.
