Traveling with your family pets can sometimes be easy. But other times, it’s just not practical... leaving you with a couple of choices.
You could board them. But this is hardly the Hyatt.
For many, the right answer is a pet sitter. And you certainly want to hire the right one: after all, you're entrusting them with your animals...and your house.
There are several options for finding a good pet sitter. Obviously asking a friend for a referral is a good idea. But there are also plenty of places to check out online.
Check places like Angie's list, care dot com, sitter city. Or associations, like Pet Sitters International or the National Association of Pet Sitters.
Once you've got a few to interview, ask about price: it should be $15 to $60 a day depending on the needs of your pet, the number you have, and how often they need someone around during the day.
Then ask if they're bonded, insured and certified by a professional organization. And ask for references.
And before you sign up, find out how your pet reacts to the person.
Bottom line? If you love both your budget and furry friends, you're going to want to look for that pet sitter long before you're going to need them.
