Authorities are confirming a that the Zetas supreme leader was killed in a gun battle in Coahuila but that his body was stolen from a funeral home.

The Zetas supreme leader Heriberto Lazcano-Lazcano, who goes by the nickname "El Lazca," was one of two gunmen killed in a gunbattle in Progreso, Coahuila by Mexican marines on Sunday.

Mexican Navy officials reported that fingerprints one one of two bodies are those of Lazcano-Lazcano.

But the Attorney General's Office confirmed that the Zetas leader's body was stolen by armed men at a funeral home.

Mexican prosecutors are now confirming the body was 'stolen' from a funeral home by a group of armed men.

Authorities are searching for both the body and the suspects.
