A La Feria man is facing criminal charges for a series of bomb threats he allegedly made at public buildings and local businesses.

La Feria police arrested 35-year-old Armando Rangel, Jr. with a hoax bombs charge on Thursday.

Investigators believe Rangel is the man responsible for bomb threats made at a Cameron County Annex building in La Feria and other places on Monday night.

Police found a detonator and white powder outside a local bakery.

A motive was not clear but records show that Rangel lived on 2nd Street, just two or three blocks away from where the device was found.

Cameron County jail records show Rangel was booked on Thursday afternoon.

Bond information was not immediately available.
