La Michoacana on 902 West Harrison in Harlingen kicks the Food Patrol out after questioning insect and rodent contamination inside the meat market.
An August health inspection report showed roaches in the bakery area and rat droppings in the deli.
Food establishments with separate kitchens receive multiple inspections.
Both areas scored 20 demerits from the health department on an initial report.
Management would not answer the Food Patrol’s questions regarding the violations.
A corporate phone number was given to Action 4 News for a statement.
Nobody answered on the other line.
This is not the first time La Michoacana was featured on Food 4 Thought for dirty dining.
In late 2010, 26 demerits turned up for dirty equipment and cross-contamination of meats.
This time around, most corrections were made by the re-inspection.
