Autopsy ordered for body found on South Padre Island

Authorities have ordered an autopsy to learn more about the death of an Irving man whose body washed ashore on South Padre Island.

The Cameron County Sheriff's Department is still investigating the death of 35-year-old Jeremy Tyrone Eyster.

A bystander came across the Irving man's body just north of Beach Access 6 on Saturday afternoon and immediately notified authorities.

Sheriff Omar Lucio said that when the body was found, there was blood was on Eyster’s face.

Eyster’s family has been notified and an autopsy has been ordered.

Sheriff Omar Lucio said that the death is being treated as a homicide until they get more evidence from a pathologist.
