Authorities have identified the suspects in a La Villa beer run that ended with one suspect shot and the other listed as a fugitive.

Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office deputies are investigating the officer-involved shooting.

A La Villa police officer shot 45-year-old beer run suspect Santiago Bruno on Sunday.

Bruno remains under guard and in critical condition after being shot to his neck, left shoulder and lower right back.

Investigators said both Bruno and 26-year-old David Alejandro Gil stole beer from a convenience store in La Villa.

The men sped off in a car where driver Gil bailed out and fled on foot.

Bruno, who was the passenger,  allegedly got behind the wheel and led police on a chase that ended with a crash and him being shot.

Deputies asked the public's help in find Gil on Monday morning.

Investigators reported Gil was arrested a couple hours after his mugshot was released to the media.

Both Bruno and Gil are American citizens who have criminal histories for different misdemeanors.

Investigators said that the La Villa police officer will be identified after all interviews are concluded.

At this time, the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office investigation has not revealed any weapon which could have been used against the officer

The sheriff's office has also taken over the theft and evading arrest investigation to avoid any conflict of interest on the part of the La Villa Police Department and due to their limited resources.
