A Mission man is now facing 10 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to trying to pay cash to have sex with a teenage girl he met through Facebook.

Teofanes Salas-Campos appeared before U.S. District Judge Randy Crane in McAllen on Monday morning.

Federal prosecutors reported that Salas-Campos pleaded guilty to an enticing a child charge.

U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested Salas-Campos and two other men back in May.

The three men all had all been texting a 14-year-old girl they met through Facebook where she posted she was willing to have sex for cash.

The girl's mother found out about her activity and turned the 14-year-old's cell phone over to Pharr police.

Authorities set up a text message sting operation where Salas-Campos and the two other men agreed to pay $80 to $100 dollars to have sex with the girl at a local motel.

Salas-Campos is expected to be sentenced on November 26th while the other two suspects Felipe de Jesus Ponce-Torres and Jose Luis Garica-Saldivar are expected to be sentenced on November 21st and December 10th respectively.

All three men face 10 years to life in prison as well as a $250,000 fine. They will also be required to register as sex offenders.
