AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- The University of Texas has issued an alert on its website ordering an evacuation "due to threats on campus."

The alert posted shortly before 10 a.m. Friday says people on campus should immediately evacuate all buildings and "get as far away as possible."

University of Texas director of communications Rhonda Weldon says the university received a call about 8:35 a.m. from a man with a Middle Eastern accent claiming to be with al-Qaida. The man said he had placed bombs all over the campus that would go off in 90 minutes.

Wheldon says all the buildings were evacuated at 9:50 a.m. as a precaution.

She says no bombs have been found.

Action 4 News spoke to a student employee at the University of Austin.

He described the scene as "crazy" adding there is a lot of anxiety amongst students.

Evacuations are also being ordered at North Dakota State University they too received a bomb threat.

NDSU issued a statement shortly before 10 a.m. Friday telling all employees and students to leave campus within a half-hour because of a bomb threat. Students in residence halls have been told to walk to locations off campus. No other details were given.

The University of Texas at Austin also has ordered an evacuation after receiving a bomb threat. It is not known if the two threats are related.

More than 14,000 students are enrolled at NDSU.
