An elderly man was killed instantly after he crashed into a large pipe Friday evening in Pharr.

The accident happened on the 700 block of Nolana Avenue.

The 65-year-old driver of a Toyota SUV was going west when he veered south and smashed into a pipe on the south side of the street.

Police rushed to the scene, but by the time they arrived, it was too late.

Investigators have not releasing the man’s identity until his family has been identified.
