An Edinburg man is behind bars after being accused of being under the influence during a wreck involving two cars and six people.
The accident happened off the westbound frontage road of Expressway 83 and Bixby Road late Sunday night.
La Feria police arrested 24-year-old Ricardo Alejandro Vega on an intoxication assault charge early Monday morning.
Police Chief Don Garcia told Action 4 News that Vega was behind the wheel with a passenger when he hit another car with four people inside.
Chief Garcia said Vega and the five others were all checked out for injuries.
At least one passenger from the other car spent time in the hospital but was later released.
Vega remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail.
Bond information was not immediately available but court records show Vega has a previous conviction for racing on a highway.
