A Willacy County restaurant scores the most demerits this week with 28, making it a low performer on Food 4 Thought.

Mike’s Taqueria is located on 305 West Main Street in Sebastian.

A state inspector busted the eatery with off-temperature food that was voluntarily destroyed.

There were no paper towels at a hand wash sink in the restroom, slime in the ice machine and a dozen fresh rodent droppings under a cabinet in the dining area, according to the inspection report.

A meat market in Brownsville also scored high demerits with 26.

La Michoacana on 1627 East Price Road was busted with multiple violations in different areas of the building including roaches, expired food and dirty equipment.

Many of the violations were caught on camera during the visit by an inspector.
