Authorities are shutting down beaches at Cameron County parks as Hurricane Isaac kicks up waves in the Gulf of Mexico.

Cameron County officials said the following parks will be shut down starting at 8 p.m. Tuesday:

• Boca Chica Beach
• Isla Blanca Bark
• Beach Access 4
• Beach Access 5
• Beach Access 6

Officials said high tides and dangerous conditions in the Gulf of Mexico prompted the decision.

Cameron County Judge Carlos Cascos said authorities are monitoring conditions but want cars and people off county beaches.

“It is very important that the public pay attention to our warnings and stay out of harm’s way,” Cascos stated.

Capt. Gilbert De La Paz of the fishing vessel Hard Bottom Too took Action 4 News for a first hand look of the waves.
