An 11-year-old boy has left in critical condition after being hit while riding his bicycle on a busy road in McAllen.

It all happened near Nolana Avenue and North 1st Street around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

McAllen police told Action 4 News that the boy was riding his bicycle when he was hit by a car.

Paramedics rushed the boy to a local hospital where he was last listed in critical condition.

One Action 4 News viewer said she and her daughter were leaving a nearby movie theater at the time of the accident.

They stayed and waited with the boy until an ambulance arrived.

It's not clear where the boys parents were at the time of the accident but the case remains under investigation.

Action 4 News will provide more information as it becomes available.
