A Brownsville man is facing criminal charges after being accused of "ambulance chasing" people involved in a four-vehicle auto accident.
Brownsville police arrested 27-year-old Eric Edward Hernandez on a barratry charge on Tuesday.
Investigators told Action 4 News that police officers were called out to investigate a four-vehicle accident on Boca Chica Boulevard just east of Padre Island Highway.
Witnesses told police that a man had approached one of the victims and represented himself as an attorney who could help them.
The man also allegedly solicited business from the accident victims on behalf of a third-party.
Police officers at the scene arrested Hernandez and found a stack of business cards for a local body shop.
According to the State Bar of Texas, Hernandez is not a licensed attorney.
