A man and woman were found dead inside a home near Rio Hondo Thursday night.

Rio Hondo police responded to the house on FM 106 after the victim’s friend discovered the bodies.

Cameron County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that it was a murder suicide.

Sheriff Omar Lucio said the suspect allegedly killed his girlfriend and then turned the gun on himself.

The cousin of the suspect told authorities that 40-year-old Jose Sanchez was upset with his 45-year-old girlfriend Maricela Galvez Villareal because she had been cheating on him.

Sanchez told his cousin that she was ‘making him look stupid’ and that he was planning on killing her and then himself.

Investigators found three shell casings in the bedroom where the bodies were discovered.

Sanchez reportedly used a 3/80 caliber gun.
