Car wash kidnapping ends with arrest in San Benito

A man is behind bars for allegedly kidnapping a another man at knifepoint at a carwash in San Benito.

It all happened on the 300 block of South Sam Houston Boulevard around 3 p.m. Friday.

San Benito police told Action 4 News that 35-year-old Gustavo Tijerina pulled up to the carwash demanded that the 43-year-old victim get into his vehicle.

Tijerina allegedly showed the victim a knife and told him he was going to stab the victim if he didn't get in the car.

Several blocks down the road, the victim managed to jump out of the vehicle and call for help.

Police told Action 4 News the victim was not seriously injured during the alleged kidnapping.

A search for Tijernia only lasted for a few minutes.

Police say he was arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping and given a $100,000 bond.

There is still no word on why Tijernia allegedly kidnapped the victim.
