Authorities are on the hunt for a man who took off from a deadly motorcycle accident leaving his passenger dead.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers said the motorcycle was going southbound on Mile 2 West south of La Villa around 10 p.m. Sunday.

The driver was accompanied by 44-year-old Melinda Guerra of Edcouch when he lost control and crashed on its side killing her instantly.

Guerra was left dead on the side of the road.

DPS said the driver fled and was picked up by an older model black Chevy pickup with Georgia license plates.

State troopers said Guerra's family is being very cooperative with the investigation but the family reported they had seen her with the motorcycle rider but don't know who he is.

Investigators said it's very important for area residents to inform their family members about who they are with.
