An man kidnapped from outside his home in Alton last week is in the hospital after he managed to escape from his captors late Tuesday night.

KRGV reported that kidnapping victim Alejandro Gomez escaped from his abductors at a mobile home 27th Street in Mission.

Two armed men kidnapped Gomez from his home off Mile 7 and a Half North and Trosper Road back on Friday.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño told KRGV that Gomez had been beaten and tied up in a closet since that time.

KRGV reported that authorities searched the mobile home but it's not clear if any arrests have been made.

A motive isn't clear but KRGV reported that Gomez had to be hospitalized.

KRGV reported that Gomez told investigators he was able to get away after loosening his hands and escaping while his alleged kidnappers were gone.

"He's been beat up pretty good," Treviño told KRGV. "He may have some broken ribs; he has a lot of burns on his upper body and facial trauma."
