The legal saga for former Hidalgo County Pct. 1 Commissioner Sylvia Handy continued on Monday where attorneys said they want part of the indictment against her dismissed.

Attorneys for Handy appeared before Judge Roberto "Bobby" Flores in the 139th for a hearing on Monday morning.

The attorneys want some charges in the "Phantom Employee" indictment dismissed but did not disclose the reasons.

The hearing for the motion to dismiss the charges was postponed until July 23rd.

Handy was not present at Monday morning's hearing.

She remains jailed near the Bryan-College Station area serving her sentence on federal charges related to the Phantom Employee scandal.
