A Brownsville man is behind bars after he allegedly admitted to sexually abusing a young girl for several months.

Brownsville police arrested 45-year-old Juan Carlos Gonzalez early Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators told Action 4 News that officers were called out to 4600 block of Central Circle on the city’s eastside.

A person at the scene told officers that Gonzalez had sexually assaulted the girl.

It's clear how Gonzalez knew the girl but he allegedly admitted to having sexual relations with her for several months.

Detectives charged Gonzalez with indecency with a child and continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 years old.

Investigators told Action 4 News that more charges could be possible against Gonzalez.

A bond hearing for Gonzalez remains pending.
