For years Erica and Sabrina Rodriguez along with one of their friends dreamed of opening up their own cupcake shop in McAllen.
The task wasn’t easy they told Action 4 that the first few months were hard.
The trio admits they sometimes had trouble making rent for their shop they named the RGV Cupcake Factory.
But just a year later, a TV show on the Food Network called 'Cupcake Wars' came along and changed everything.
The bakers applied, got accepted, and on Sunday night took home the grand prize, a whopping $10,000 dollars and national recognition for the Rio Grande Valley.
Now their little shop on North 10th Street has never been busier as people from across South Texas come to taste those now infamous cupcakes.
What was once a dream for the three ladies has now turned into a reality.
They look towards the future and even opening up another location to bring a little sugar and spice to the rest of the Valley.
