A passenger van and a pick-up truck collided north of Edcouch Elsa and south of Monte Alto, sending nine people to the hospital, including a baby.

The crash happened on F.M. 2812 and F.M. 88 at around 10:15 p.m. Saturday night.

The van failed to yield the right of way, causing the vehicle to crash into the pick-up.

Six people in the van, including a 2-week-old baby were taken to various hospitals.

The three passengers in the truck were hospitalized as well.

Texas DPS Spokesperson Johnny Hernandez said the baby boy is reported to be in the worst condition.

He suffered head injuries and was airlifted to McAllen Medical Center.

The other passengers were treated for minor injuries.
