The 24/7 Weather Center is monitoring an area of low pressure between the Northwest Caribbean and Florida.

Thursday morning the system was not well organized, only producing showers and thunderstorms.

There is a 20 percent chance that it will develop into a tropical cyclone by this weekend.

The National Weather Service predicted a track that would take the system through the Bahamas and to the Atlantic Ocean, most likely skipping the Gulf of Mexico.

Hurricane Bud however, has formed in the Pacific Ocean and was at Category 2 status Thursday morning with 105 mph winds.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami released 2012 Atlantic Hurricane Season Predctions on Thursday morning.

Meteorologists are predicting nine to 15 named storms for this year's hurricane season.

Of those nine to 15 named storms, some four to eight of them are expected to develop into hurricane strength.

Hurricane season starts June 1st but Tropical Storm Alberto already formed off the East Coast.
