A jail guard at the East Hildago Detention Center found himself on the other side of the law after being accused of smuggling a cell phone to an inmate.

FBI agents arrested 21-year-old Jorge Luis Sandoval at his Pharr home on Thursday morning.

A federal grand jury in McAllen indicted Sandoval on a bribery charge on Tuesday but the records had been sealed until his arrest.

Sandoval remains in custody where he's expected to appear for an arraignment before U.S. Magistrate Judge Dorina Ramos in McAllen on Friday morning.

It's not clear how much money Sandoval accpeted for the jail house favor or which inmate used the phone.

If convicted, Sandoval could face up to 15 years in federal prison and up to a $250,000 dollar fine.
