A Brownsville man is behind bars after he crashed his pickup truck into a popular taquería while allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

Brownsville police arrested 24-year-old Luis Alfredo Gonzalez on a DWI charge around 2:27 a.m. Thursday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that it all happened at the Ultimo Taco restaurant off Expressway 77/83 and Old Alice Road.

Police said Gonzalez crashed his black pickup truck into the restaurant knocking out power and the water meters.

Two people inside the restaurant were injured but only one of them had to be taken to the hospital.

Police said Gonzalez appeared intoxicated and took him to a hospital where a blood sample was taken.

Gonzalez is expected to appear before a Brownsville municipal judge on Thursday morning.
