Testimony has started for the sentencing trial for a Brownsville teenager who has been convicted in the murder of his ex-girlfriend.

Javier De La Rosa appeared for sentencing before a jury in the 107th State District Court on Tuesday morning.

The 18-year-old was recently convicted for the August 2010 murder of his ex-girlfriend Tiffany Galvan.

De La Rosa faces five to 99 years in prison for Galvan's death.

The former Lopez High School football player broke down crying when prosecutors showed autopsy photos of Galvan.
