A Brownsville man is behind bars after he allegedly knocked out a girl's tooth while trying to molest her.

Brownsville police arrested 26-year-old Pedro Alberto Ramirez on Monday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that it all happened on the 2400 block of Munich Street on the city's northwest side.

Police said Ramirez knocked out one of the girl's teeth while he was trying to cover her and attempting to grope her.

The girl's family told police she was at a friends house with some friends when it all happened.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force tracked down Ramirez on the 800 block of East Harrison Street.

Ramirez was arrested blocks away from the Cameron County Courthouse and the Brownsville Police Department.

Officers charged Ramirez with injury to a child and indecency with a child by contact.

The Brownsville man is expected to appear before a judge on Tuesday morning.
