A Harlingen man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly went on a property damage spree during a domestic disturbance.

Harlingen police arrested 34-year-old Gerardo Gutierrez on for two criminal charges early Wednesday morning.

Investigators told Action 4 News that it all happened on the 900 block of Live Oak Circle.

Gutierrez’s common law wife told police he woke her up by punching her on the top of her head.

The Harlingen man is accused of breaking the couple’s TV, ripping the spark plug wires out of her car and shattering a garage door window.

A motive for the argument was not clear but investigators reported that police had to come to the house twice early Wednesday morning.

During the first time, Gutierrez was not found at the scene but returned and caused a second disturbance.

Officers charged Gutierrez with assault family violence and criminal mischief.

Gutierrez appeared before a Harlingen municipal judge on Wednesday morning where he was issued $3,500 dollars in bonds.
