Within five days, U.S. Border Patrol agents seized over five tons of marijuana in the Rio Grande Valley.

Two major busts were in La Rosita and in Roma.

Agents seized nearly 1,000 pounds of marijuana in La Rosita on Tuesday.

Several men in La Rosita were loading bundles of the narcotics into a truck when agents approached and arrested them.

On Thursday, agents responded to a car accident involving two vehicles in Roma.

They noticed one of the cars contained bundles of drugs in the backseat.

The driver of the wrecked vehicle fled the scene, but with the help of Roma police, the suspect was caught near the city cemetery.

900 pounds of marijuana were seized.

The drugs had an estimated street value at $8.2 million and were all turned over to appropriate agencies for further inspection.

To report any suspicious activity, call Border Patrol Sector’s toll free number 1-800-863-9382.
