A Weslaco standoff ended with the suspect emerging from a house and being taken into custody.

It all happened at a home near Weslaco City Park on the the city's eastside around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Authorities set up a perimeter around the home where they believed an armed man was inside with a child.

Neighbors told Action 4 News that they heard screaming and a woman saying the man had kidnapped her child.

Police blocked off the area and had their weapons drawn as they talked to the suspect.

The man emerged from the home shortly after 12:30 p.m. where he was taken into custody.

He is expected to be arraigned tomorrow at 12 p.m. and charged with aggravated assault.

A small amount of marijuana was found at the home but the suspect is not being charged for that.

This man has a lengthy criminal history and this case remains under investigation.
