Brownsville school district confirms death of HS football player

Brownsville Independent School District has confirmed the death of Rivera High School senior, Juvenal Torres.

While the district will not confirm how Torres died, his football coaches told Action 4 News he died in a car accident in Matamoros.

Torres was 18-years-old when he died Saturday.

BISD spokesperson Drue Brown told Action 4 News that grief counselors would be available at the high school on Monday.

Action 4 News will provide more information as new details become known.
