Suspected threatend to blow up banks with a nuclear bomb

A man who allegedly threatened to blow up banks in Maryland with a nuclear bomb is behind bars in the Rio Grande Valley.

U.S. Marshals arrested bank robbery suspect Marvin Junius Simmons in Donna on Monday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that they received information that the 42-year-old suspect had been living at an apartment complex there.

Simmons is accused of robbing two banks in Maryland in December and January.

Investigators said Simmons would pass a note threatening to set-off a nuclear bomb if the teller would not give him the money.

Simmons remains in custody at the Hidalgo County Jail where he's awaiting extradition to Maryland.
