An elderly Brownsville man is behind bars after being accused of sexually abusing an 11-year-old child.
Brownsville police arrested 65-year-old Sergio Garcia Gomez on a sexual abuse charge on Thursday.
Gomez is accuse of sexually abusing the child back back in April 2011.
Investigators told Action 4 News that the child came forward with the allegations earlier this month.
Gomez allegedly provided a statement that implicated himself in the crime.
Detectives charged Gomez with continuous sexual assault of a child.
Gomez remains in custody as of Friday morning but bond information was not immediately available.
