The sound of hammers echoed throughout a quiet Alamo neighborhood as dozens of volunteers hit nail after nail—making sure each board was properly secured.

For Daniel Ibarra the sight unbelievable and something he will never forget.

"It means a lot to us,” Ibarra started. “It is going to be our house for the future and we're going to take care of it. We're really happy to get it."

Daniel said, for years, he and his family of eight have crammed into a small two bedroom apartment.

He said that small space got even tighter once his twins were born.

"By having twins that were premature…it was really hard to take care of them."

But now this growing family will have a larger space to call home-- with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a yard for the children to play in….

All thanks to the hard work of Habitat for Humanity and their dozens of volunteers who decided, instead of going to the beach for Spring Break, they wanted to change someone’s life.

"I could be off doing something completely different, but I love the feeling of being able to help the community and a family that is deserving of this,” Coretta Miles said. “What better way to spend your time then to help a family that really needs it? “

It is that attitude that will soon put David and his family into their new home---a place to call their own.
