Driver leads DPS on chase from Edcouch to Harlingen

The driver of a black sports car led DPS troopers and local police on a high speed chase across the Valley on Monday night.

DPS Spokersperson Johnny Hernandez said the chase started in Edcouch, then continued along Expressway 83.

It ended at about 8:15 p.m. in front of the Bass Pro Shop in Harlingen.

Troopers administed a DWI test on scene, then took the man into custody in handcuffs.

The license plates to the suspect vehicle came back registered to Jose Angel Hernandez of Ash Avenue in Mercedes.
