Edinburg family expecting baby, has big plans for record jackpot
Our Fa$t Ca$h contest ended on Sunday but two lucky winners are getting a few extra bucks in their pockets for Spring Break.
Veronica Rodriguez, her husband and their three children came by the Action 4 News studios on Monday morning.
The Edinburg couple also has a baby boy on the way but made Action 4 News history.
Veronica picked up $2,800 dollars, the largest jackpot in the history of our contest Fa$t Ca$h 4 You.
The lucky family has big plans for the money.
"It'll come in handy cause we have a baby on the way,” Veronica said. “So, we're going to enjoy the money. We’re going on a little trip to san Antonio and buying baby things. So we're very blessed. Thank you."
Our own Mary Avila was on hand give out the record amount of cash.
Veronica said they won because her family played strategically using Facebook bonus entries to their advantage.
"We would post the link to share it with our friends so they can go ahead and enter also, so that gave us more entries,” Veronica said.
Sylvia Cabrera of La Feria has 1,200 reasons to smile.
She came by to pick $1,200bucks in Fa$t Ca$h today.
Sylvia’s daughter Erika Cabrera said the Thursday, March 8th announcement caught them by surprise.
“We weren’t expected that, so we were scrambling for the phone,” Erika said. “I had to dial for my mother.”
Sylvia told Action 4 News that she’s never won a contest before and that she's gonna use the cash catch up on bills.
But she's also gonna go clothes shopping with her daughter at Valle Vista Mall in Harlingen.
