An Olmito man is behind bars after giving a teenage neighbor a homemade Hello Kitty tattoo on her stomach.

Cameron County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested 19-year-old Rudy Garay on multiple charges on Wednesday.

The Olmito man is accused of multiple violations of state tattoo regulations.

Court records show that Garay gave a 15-year-old neighbor a Hello Kitty tattoo on the right side of her stomach.

The girl’s mother saw the tattoo and called authorities.

Under Texas state law,  teens can get tattoos with a consenting parent present but the girl did not have permission from her mother.

A deputy investigating the case learned Garay didn’t get paid for the tattoo but was unlicensed and using homemade equipment.

Garay appeared before Cameron County Magistrate Judge Patricia Edelstein on Thursday morning where he was issued $500 dollar bonds for each violation.

As of Friday morning, the 19-year-old Olmito man remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail.
