Authorities have identified a body found north of Alamo as a Castroville man with a lengthy criminal record.
Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office deputies reported that the body was identified as 39-year-old Oscar Treviño of Castroville, Texas.
Treviño’s body was found in a neighborhood near the intersection of Iowa and Tower Roads north of Alamo late Sunday night.
It’s not clear what Treviño was doing hundreds of miles from home.
Investigators said Treviño appeared to have been beaten and died from a gunshot wound to the back of the head.
Deputies told Action 4 News that Treviño had a lengthy criminal record with multiple arrests in the Houston, Austin and Corpus Christi areas.
Tattoos found on Treviño’s body show that he may have been a member of the Raza Unida prison gang but investigators are not sure of his status.
Action 4 News will provide more information as it becomes available.
