A Harlingen man is behind bars after he allegedly pointed a rifle at his wife and grabbing her by the throat.

Harlingen police arrested 29-year-old Bruce Lee Manning, Jr. on an aggravated assault charge early Monday morning.

Investigators told Action 4 News that police were called to a home off the 600 block of East Filmore Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Monday.

Manning’s wife told officers that he pointed a rifle at her stomach when she got home, grabbed her by the throat and shoved her out of their home.

Police reported that officers arrested Manning without incident and seized the rifle as evidence.

Manning appeared before a Harlingen municipal judge on Monday morning where he was issued a $525,000 dollar bond.
