Family members of fallen U.S. Army Spc. Kurt Kern held a press conference on Thursday to release information about finalized funeral arrangements.

Spc. Kern’s body will arrive at 11 a.m. Friday at McCreery Aviation in McAllen and will be taken directly to Rivera Funeral Home off Pecan Boulevard in McAllen for a private viewing.

A public viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Rivera Funeral Home.

Family will receive family and friends at 9:00 a.m. Sunday at the McAllen Convention Center at Ware Road & Expressway 83.

The funeral service being held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday in the main ballroom on the west side of the building.

Burial will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veteran’s Cemetery at 2520 S. Inspiration Rd. in Mission. 

Friends of the family have set up a bank account at Lone Star National Bank to help the family with expenses.
