Man jailed for $88,000 dollars in cocaine in Brownsville

A 46-year-old man is behind bars after he allegedly tried to smuggle $88,000 dollars worth of cocaine into the United States.

Brownsville police arrested Enrique Cortes Coronel on state drug charges Thursday night.

Investigators told Action 4 News that police arrested Coronel at the B&M International Bridge.

Police said officers found four packages with 9.5 pounds of cocaine hidden inside his car.

Authorities believe that the drugs are worth about $88,000 dollars on the streets.
