The UTPA Coastal Studies Lab on South Padre Island needs help caring for a stranded dolphin.
Fishermen found the dolphin washed up on the beach Wednesday.
Research assistant Brigette Goza said bite marks reveal a shark attacked the dolphin.
"It’s hard to speculate right now about the long term health, but he is somewhat active and we hope that with veterinary care he'll be able to return to the wild," said Goza.
The lab is waiting for test results to determine the dolphin’s state of health and to find out if bite marks are infected.
Two people are needed 24/7 to support the dolphin in water.
