A Brownsville mother is behind bars after she allegedly bit her 10-year-old daughter in the face.

Brownsville police arrested 27-year-old Claudia Elizabeth Avila on an injury to a child charge on Tuesday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that by a Child Protective Services worker first reported the incident.

Officers were called to a home on the 2500 block of Arroyo Boulevard on Friday.

That’s where the 10-year-old girl told police what had happened.

Detectives secured a warrant against Avila and arrested her on Tuesday.

The Brownsville mother appeared before a municipal judge where she was given a $5,000 dollar bond.
