During this day of thanks, one family has a lot to be thankful for.

They lost thier home in a fire back in June, but since then, they said angels in the community have helped them rebuild their lives.

After a fire completely destroyed their home, the Alegria family of five felt helpless.

Action 4 News was there when the children looked through their burned belongings, and when help finally arrived.

Today, they want everyone to know how thankful they are to be alive and well surrounded by people who care.

In early June, this Alamo family's home was in ashes and their belongings were all gone.

The fire was ruled an accident by the Hidalgo County Fire Marshal's office, but with no home insurance, the Alegria family couldn't rebuild their home on their own.

After hearing the news, ARISE, Proyecto Azteca and several other organizations in the Rio Grande Valley joined efforts to help the Alegria family.

The community helped too donating what clothes and food they could, and it wasn't too long before they had a home to come back to.

Proyecto Azteca, with the help of volunteers, donated this home they built for the Alegria family back in August.

On Thanksgiving day, the family even have a turkey to celebrate.

"On this day of thanks we want to say thank you to proyecto azteca for donating this house," said Aida Vargas.

Her son chimed in, "thank you for the clothes and for the money the community has donated to help fix up the house."

The turkey was donated to the family from community members who come to check on the family every now and again and help with home repairs.

The Alegria family said  they're blessed to have such angels in their lives.

They dedicate this thanksgiving to them.
