Until recently, the group known as ARCH or the Advocacy Resource Center for Housing, helped out mostly families on the verge of becoming homeless, but a 170,000 dollar grant will now allow them to help those families that already lost their homes.

Erin Jillian Spent night after night living in her car after being a victim of a scam.

She credits ARCH for helping her family get back on their feet.

Erin Jillian said if it weren't for ARCH, she and her family would still be out on the streets.

“I don't know what we could have done without them," said Jillian.

She said her partner, two kids, mother-in-law and mother were homeless living in a car before ARCH stepped in to help them out.

"We stayed in our car for a while," said Jillian.

It all started when Erin's partner lost her job.

Then, they couldn't keep up with rent.

"We had nowhere to go with the kids," said Jillian.

Jillian said she looked on Craigslist and found a place they could afford.

"The house looked great. It was affordable. It was something in our budget that we could afford at that time and he was willing to work out on the deposit and everything," said Jillian.

But once she and her family used their savings and borrowed money to pay the first month's rent and deposit, they realized it was a scam.

That's when they ended up penniless-and homeless.

"If it wasn't for the arch program, I don't know if we would have ever gotten back on our feet like we did or at all," she said.

Jillian said ARCH stepped in and helped pay for a hotel room for them then eventually got them this apartment.
