The San Juan Police Department’s Operation Curbside, which targets street drug dealers, proved successful Saturday night with the arrest of eight suspects.
A police department spokesperson Tells Action 4 News a tip led them to a home on the 2100 block of Sunset Street, with reports that drugs were being sold there.
After a week-long surveillance, police gathered enough information to obtain an arrest warrant.
The San Juan Law Enforcement Emergency Response Team, made up of SWAT members from the Palmview, Mercedes, Alamo and Donna Police Departments, raided the home Saturday.
Inside the home police said they found a .22 caliber pistol, 60 grams of cocaine and crack-cocaine, stolen Social Security cards, debit cards and driver’s license. A stolen pick-up registered out of Mercedes was also recovered.
Police arrested a total of three women and five men, and said the investigation continues.
