A University of Texas at Brownsville student is behind bars after he allegedly broke into his underage girlfriend’s house and raped her.
Brownsville police arrested 19-year-old David Salazar on an aggravated sexual assault of a child charge early Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators told Action 4 News that the incident happened off 1700 block of Calle Espacio on the city’s northwest side.
A 16-year-old girl told police that her 19-year-old boyfriend Salazar broke into her family’s home and sexually assaulted her.
Salazar allegedly fled the scene but investigators learned he is a UTB student and was on campus.
UTB officers detained Salazar when he walked into their police station to ask if police were looking for him.
Brownsville police took him into custody and charged him with the girl’s rape.
According to UTB officials, Salazar is a freshman studying computer information systems.
