A Tuesday morning chase ended with authorities seizing more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana in the rural community of Garceño.

It all started in Starr County around 11 a.m. Tuesday prompting officials to mobilize and a Border Patrol helicopter to be launched in the skies.

Investigators told Action 4 News that U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents had a pickup truck under surveillance.

The ICE agents reportedly tried to pull over the truck but the driver refused to stop.

The driver led authorities on a high-speed chase that ended at an abandoned home off the Rosa Loop in Garceño.

Authorities found more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana inside and in the bed of the truck.

Investigators reported that the driver fled on foot but was caught and is being held for questioning.
