Halloween is just around the corner and jack-o-lanterns will soon be popping up all over the place.

If you're still looking for a pumpkin, we found a place where your dollar could make a difference.

It's a wonderland for the little ones.

The pumpkin patch on the front lawn of First United Methodist Church in downtown Harlingen has plenty to go around.

"A few thousand, that’s for sure."

Celia Garza along with her scarecrow helpers, organizes the makeshift 'pumpkin warehouse.'

"They're great big some of them and very odd shapes. These are like ornamental ones," said Garza.

As fun as it may sound to go out to the pumpkin patch and monkey around, it's more than just about picking out pumpkins for Halloween.

It's about helping some of the kids who go to the school to pay for tuition.

The church is home to Journey Preschool, where the proceeds from pumpkin sales will go, to help pay for school supplies.

Last year they raised about 6 thousand dollars for the kids.

"I'm one of those very active grandmothers. I'm not a mom here but I am a grandma of a little girl that comes to Journey Preschool and just really have enjoyed having her at the school and we've really enjoyed the pumpkin patch," said Garza.

You only have to part with a little pocket change to keep the place running.

The fun-filled veggies go for as low as 50 cents and they're ripe for the picking.

Admission to the pumpkin patch is free if you're just looking for a Halloween photo-op.

They are open Sunday through Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays starting at 9 a.m.

The church is located at 321 E. Harrison Ave. in Harlingen.
